When this work can help
Enquire about appliances in offices, shops, workshops and rental accommodation. Tell us what equipment you have, how it is used and whether you need access arranged around staff, tenants or guests. Specialist equipment should be identified when booking so we can confirm what can be tested.
Guide price and scope
See our published PAT testing guide
The existing guide lists a £100 minimum call-out when PAT testing is the only work at the property, with additional appliances at £3 per item. If we are already working on site, the first ten appliances are listed at £70, with £3 per item thereafter. Confirm the total appliance count, inclusions and final quotation before booking.

Planning the visit
Send the postcode, premises type and approximate appliance count. Include previous records if available, items that cannot readily be unplugged and any deadline. Agree access to equipment and any disruption before the visit; make sure someone is available to identify the appliances included in the job.

Common questions
Is PAT testing the same as an EICR?
No. PAT testing concerns appliances. An EICR assesses the fixed electrical installation, including its circuits. If you need both, include them in your enquiry so their separate scopes can be agreed.
Does every workplace appliance need an annual test?
There is no blanket requirement for annual PAT testing of every workplace appliance. HSE recommends a risk-based approach to maintenance, taking account of the equipment and its use. Inspection and testing intervals should reflect those risks; requirements for particular premises should be checked separately.
What happens if an appliance has a problem?
Any identified problem will be explained. An unsafe appliance should be taken out of use until it has been made safe or replaced. Repairs and replacement equipment are not automatically included in the testing quotation.
Can testing be arranged alongside other electrical work?
Yes, ask when booking. The published pricing distinguishes a standalone PAT visit from testing while we are already working on site. Confirm the equipment list and total cost with us.
